The Power of a Team

Ever since I started swimming in a team, I have learned to appreciate the value of my teammates. When I was young, I saw my team as my second family, and I still do today. However, today, I see them as more than that. I have created such strong bonds with some of my teammates, we call each other brothers. What creates these strong bonds are the hours in the pool. We are there for each other no matter what. We have fought together, and we have surpassed difficult challenges together. Personally, swimming alone is very difficult for me. I love having my teammates around since we make each other better. Something my teammates and I have come up with is called the swimming triangle. Three us made a pact to make each other stronger and better. As athletes, we have good days and bad days; therefore, my teammates and I put in place a system in order to push each other every day. We promised each other that if one of us had trouble at practice, we would help each other and push each other so that we still had a good workout. This system really helped me thrive this season and accomplish the goals I strived to succeed. Overall, what I am trying to say is that swimming is not a solo sport. Even though, when you dive in the water, you may be swimming alone, you never are alone. Your teammates' root for you on the pool deck, your coaches cheer you on, and your parents are there rooting you on as well. Personally, sometimes, when I am behind the blocks, I get nervous before my race. My teammates are always there for me, and they help me stay motivated before the race instead of getting nervous. They are always there when I need them, and that is why it is essential to create strong bonds with your teammates since they will always be there to help.
