Getting Back Into The Pool

Hello everybody as swimmers we have been unable to swim since the middle of March. Many swimmers around the country and around the world have had to find new ways to train. Whether that be running, biking, lifting weights, or swimming in their home pools.

Going into practice today I was a little nervous because I wasn’t sure how it was all going to work. Once we got in the water practice was pretty normal besides the fact that there can only be one swimmer per land. As expected I didn’t feel very fast but I know that overtime this will change. Being able to ease back into swimming is very important. I find myself very fortunate to be in a position where I feel that I can swim safely and am able to eventually get back into the swimming grove.

I know that it is not a possibility for all teams to resume swimming. My advice to those of you that aren’t able to swim is to try and stay positive and find new ways to stay busy. Being able to find other things that make you happy outside of the pool is also very important. For those of you that are able to get back into the pool I would say the best thing for you to do is to be patient and trust the process. It may be weird at first and it might feel like you will never get back to where you were, but overtime if you trust the process and continue to work on the little things you will get back to that point. If you would like to share your swimming story or your current quarantine situation please reach out to us and we would be glad to help you.

Emma
